Day 7 – Half Way There – living on a prayer! (12/08/23)
We left Leigh with the weather grey but dry; we know we are likely to get wet at some point today.
The day’s journey threads between Bolton & Horwich, directly through Ryal Fold (for the first Tea Stop), around Blackburn, into Slaidbank (for Lunch) and finishing at the edge of the southern Lake District in Carnforth.
The day also marks the ‘Half Way’ mark
Today’s route has taken us past some more amazing scenery.
The rain started not long after we left the hotel …. Jackets on.
It was still raining when we reached our tea stop – all laid on by ‘Peter Van Driver’.
Riverbank Tea Rooms in Slaidbank was our lunch destination and by the time we had finished our lunch the rain had set in with determination.
We came across Ribble Moor to the delights of rain and wind, bad enough to make it hard work, but definitely not the worst it could have been.
The day ended with a cheeky ice cream 8 miles before the hotel to celebrate that the the rain had stopped and the sun was out.
Strange to think we move into Scotland tomorrow on day 8.
